Message from NICE:
We are writing about a new research project that may be of interest to you, called Improving Implementation of NICE Recommendations on Planning Treatment and Care Towards the End of Life. The project seeks to address a key problem: that many people nearing the end of their lives are not consulted on their preferences for end-of-life treatment and care. This can result in less personalised care and poorer experiences for individuals, their families and carers. The study will try to improve the quality of end-of-life care planning by learning from the views and experiences of a wide range of people.
The researchers are really interested in hearing from people with experience of planning for their end-of-life treatment and care with health and social care staff. If you are an individual planning ahead for the end of life (whatever stage of life you are currently at), or have experience of helping someone else in planning for end-of-life treatment and care (e.g. a family member, or someone you care for) – the team is very keen to hear from you. They would like you to complete a questionnaire about your experiences of planning end-of-life care, including undertaking conversations about treatment and care preferences. The questionnaire should take you no more than 10 minutes to complete. Optionally, they may also invite you to take part in an interview about your experiences and preferences, and contribute to an exercise to help identify the best ways of trying to improve practice in this area.
