Agency Worker Identity Checks (Wales)

Care Inspectorate Wales have issued a reminder to providers to ensure that they undertake identity checks on all agency workers working for their service, as they have been made aware of concerns about people impersonating agency staff.

CIW highlight that the statutory guidance specifically states:
“Where agency staff are deployed service providers [must] ensure that they are subject to the same checks as permanently employed staff and have evidence to demonstrate that the checks have been undertaken. This may include confirmation and checklists supplied by any agency, where sufficiently reliable and robust”.
