In their latest research, the King’s Fund has spoken to providers about their experiences with hiring younger care workers.

Across adult social care, under-25s make up just 8% of the workforce. With the need for the demand growing and with separate, ongoing issues with recruitment, both domestically and internationally. The sector needs to focus on developing a career pathway for the younger workforce.

And although many providers expressed their interest in hiring young people and spoke about the advantages they bring to the workforce. They also believe more action is needed at provider, local and national levels to support this.

Further research is being done in this area by The King’s Fund and will be published in the summer.
