From 1 April 2024, National Living Wage and National Minimum Wage rates increase and the National Living Wage is extended to those of 21 and over.

The National Living Wage increases to £11.44, the 18–20 year old rate rises to £8.60, and the 16-17 and Apprentice rates both rise to £6.40. The accommodation offset increases to £9.99.

The change of rates needs to be carefully implemented by employers. HMRC have a recording of a webinar on Getting ready for the National Minimum Wage increase at National Minimum Wage | GoToStage.com.

The Homecare Association publishes a National Minimum Wage Toolkit, written by Anthony Collins Solicitors LLP, to help members ensure they are meeting the National Minimum Wage requirements within their workforce.

The toolkit sets out the current law with practical examples and includes a step-by-step compliance assessment tool. It also contains a practical section for homecare providers written by the Homecare Association on possible actions to achieve compliance with the National Minimum Wage.

The Toolkit has been updated by the Homecare Association to reflect the new rates from 1 April 2024.
