The Local Government Association has launched a bite size guide to help employers explore and maximise opportunities that overseas recruitment offers.

The guide examines the benefits of overseas recruitment, what employers need, legal requirements, the cost, how long it takes and how to make sure it's successful.

The LGA envisages employers will dip in and out of the guide as they work through the different steps. Real life examples are included to help employers learn from the experience of others.

While this guide is written for providers in England, it may be relevant to providers in other parts of the UK.

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has published an updated Code of Practice for the International Recruitment of Health and Social Care personnel which takes account of the latest World Health Organisation (WHO) advice on ethical international recruitment.

The list of red and amber countries where active recruitment is not permitted or only under the terms of a government-to-government agreement is here.
