New NHS clinical guidance has been published which asks local health systems to expand their use of NHS virtual wards to include heart failure (HF) patients.
According to NHS England, these patients often spend a lot of time in hospital and can now get specialist care from their HF specialist team at home, as virtual wards are rolled out.
There is more information about this development and what it means for patients and services.
The clinical guidance sets out criteria for virtual ward care for people with heart failure, minimum requirements for managing people with heart failure on a virtual ward and key elements in the patient's pathway.
