Plan to reform Mental Health law in Queen's Speech

The Queen's Speech contained proposals to reform Mental Health Act 1983, following the Independent Review of the Mental Health Act and last year’s White Paper.

There were also plans for a Bill of Rights to replace the Human Rights Act and a Bill to reform the United Kingdom’s data protection regime.

Further procurement reform and legislation to underpin levelling-up were also included.

Expected proposals for employment legislation to provide carers with five days' unpaid leave were not included, nor was further reform of adult social care.
