NI Executive agree COVID-19 relaxations but keep winter options open

The Northern Ireland Executive has agreed further relaxations to COVID-19 rules from 14 and 31 October concerning gatherings and events, subject to mitigations being in place. More information.

The Executive has also considered its Autumn Winter Covid Contingency Planning and what options it could adopt if cases rise again or if there are sustainable pressures on hospitals.

These could extend to requiring COVID19 status-certification, tightening social distancing and self-isolation, and fresh messages on vaccination, effective ventilation and mask-wearing.

The Executive asked the public to exercise personal responsibility to help keep themselves and others safe, and reduce pressure on health services.

Autumn/Winter Covid-19 Contingency Plan, published 19 October 2021.
