Careworker registration in Wales extended to support staff and sector

Careworkers have faced tremendous pressure throghout the pandemic and the sector is currently facing staffing difficulties worse than anyone can remember.

In response to this, Social Care Wales have announced that they are going to:

  • extend the registration period for all careworkers registered with them by March 2021 to four years rather than three
  • The amount of CPD that workers need (90 hours) will not increase, even though the period has been extended.
  • Any worker who has worked through the pandemic will be credited with 50% of their CPD requirement for re-registration and will only need to complete 45 hours.
